The style

Drapery

Fabric on a motorized track. It opens to the side and clears the whole window.

Drapery adds softness, and it stacks to the side, so tall glass and sliding doors open all the way. Put a sheer and a blackout layer on two tracks, then run either one from a keypad or the app.

How it works

From the first walk to the first sunrise

01

We walk the windows

Room by room, we talk through light, privacy and the view, and narrow down the style and fabric.

02

We plan the wiring

In a new home, every opening gets a shade wire before drywall. In a finished home, battery shades need no wire.

03

We measure and install

We measure each opening after drywall, order it to size and install it. Hems on the same wall line up within 1/8 inch.

04

It runs on its own

Shades open in the morning and close at night on the schedule you set. A keypad or the app does the rest.

Building or remodeling?

Plan the shades before drywall.

Ceiling pockets and shade wire go in during framing. After drywall, the choice is fascia or battery shades.

How we work with designers

Questions

Common questions

All questions and answers

What is the difference between pocketed, fascia and open roll shades?

A pocketed shade hides its roller in a pocket in the ceiling, so you see only the window when it is up. A fascia shade covers the roller with a slim cover on the wall or in the window opening. An open roll shade leaves the fabric roll and brackets in view as part of the design.

Should I choose shades or drapery?

Choose shades for a clean, tailored look and for glass that runs to the ceiling. Choose drapery for softness, and for tall glass or sliding doors that should open all the way, because drapery stacks to the side. Many rooms use both, with a screen shade for daytime glare and drapery for the evening.

Can you add motorized shades to a home that is already finished?

Yes. Fascia and open roll shades mount on the wall or inside the window opening, so they need no pocket. Battery shades need no wire, so the walls stay closed. Depending on the motor, the batteries last 1 to 5 years between charges or changes.

How much do motorized shades cost?

Every shade and drapery track is made to measure, so we quote after we see the windows. The size of each opening, the fabric, the style and the power drive the price. Our quote lists each shade on its own line by room, so you see exactly what goes where.
